Project Life - Week 7

Warning: this is a picture heavy post! :) Here's Week 7 of my Project Life. This was Valentine's Day week and, given the number of photos (and stories!) I had, I originally thought I would need to add an insert, but I managed to squeeze everything in two pages. :)

The colors for this week are red and gold, inspired by the Chinese red envelopes that I included on the left page.

This was a fun week to put together!

Here are the details.

Lots of gold for this card. :) I own a couple of sets of gold thickers, and I settled for these curly ones because they were especially suited to represent the snake theme. ;) I also used these pretty Dear Lizzy 5th & Frolic gold foil mini letter stickers.

On the title card I used some heart sequins that have been in my stash for years, Amy Tangerine's new Yes Please calendar stamp (love!!) and my letter rubber stamps by ImageTree (EK Success). I used Colorbox pigment ink and Sharpie fine point pens.

I used the cool 3x4 Photo Templates by Designs by Lili for the journaling spots on this card and throughout the spread.

For the background of this card, I colored a Becky Higgins Project Life 4x6 grid card with an Elmer gold leafing pen (that thing stinks, but it is so pretty!! ;)) using a stencil by Studio Calico.

Just an easy photo collage and some digital journaling directly on it to save space. Man, was that a happy mail day!!

The newsflash stamp from the February Project Life Studio Calico kit was perfect to document a couple of events that have caught my attention.

This is one of my favorite parts of this week's spread! (see below for more pictures) The heart design is a digital freebie by Designs by Lili (check out her Facebook page); I turned it red, printed it out, and then covered it with Studio Calico Mister Huey gold. So fun!! ;)

More Studio Calico stamps stamped with Colorbox pigment ink, along with gold sequins. The alpha stamp is the Studio Calico Stepping Stone set.

I love this card too! The typewriter on the left was sketched with my Silhouette cutter and a sketch pen... it was my first time using the Silhouette to sketch, and I was amazed at how well it worked! This machine seriously was my *best*purchase*ever*!! The typewriter from the right is from the Studio Calico Heyday wood veneer pack, and I colored it with the Elmer gold leafing pen.

I really love this pair of cards too! I used the same stencil of the card and misted it with Studio Calico Mister Huey gold. I totally just bought the Starbucks gift card so that I could include it in my album. It was a tad too large to fit in the 3" wide pocket, so I cut off a bit with an X-acto craft knife. The card on the right is a free illustration by Samantha Hahn that I slightly recolored to suit my color scheme.

The card on the left, from the Feb. Studio Calico Project Life kit, was perfect to document our Valentine's Day! :)

I added some journaling on this card (from the Feb. Studio Calico Project Life kit).

The card on the left is from an adorable set by Mari Koegelenberg and Penny Springmann; I added a heart sequin on top of the nut - it looks black in this photo, but it really is red. :) Stamps by Studio Calico.

It doesn't translate well at all in the photos, but the Studio Calico Mister Huey gold has a gorgeous shimmery look - so pretty!

As all my hybrid work, this was printed out on Canon matte photo paper.

Project Life 2013 - Week 6

I have been experiencing a weird effect this year when I work on my Project Life album. Each week I make, I feel like it's my favorite week ever. ;) Then a new week comes by, and I forget about how much I loved the previous week, and fall totally in love with the current week. :) It happened this week as well, but I have to say, I really love how this week turned out. :)

Most of the cards are from the February Project Life kit by Studio Calico. I also used a few bits and pieces (die cuts) from past card kits and add ons from Studio Calico. The color scheme for this week was red, pink, and a couple touches of blue.

I started working on the right page first (I knew which photos had to fit on that side, and quickly found which cards I wanted to match them with), but I struggled a bit with the left page at first. I had many little stories to tell there and the design was puzzling me. But then I picked a few red embellishments from my stash, and created the painted heart background card to add some pink to match the photos on the right page, and everything came together so well!

OK, here are the details.

The big 6 coaster was in a Studio Calico grab bag and I was so happy when I got it, because I was just about to start working on my week 6! :)

I love glitter tape! The heart embellishment was cut out with my Silhouette cutting machine and painted with acrylic paint.

I love how this card turned out! I simply painted a heart with acrylic paints onto white cardstock, and added some stamps by Studio Calico.

Die cut folder tab from Studio Calico, some punched out hearts and a sequin.

Another word cut out with my Silhouette cutting machine and painted with acrylic paints. I used my tiny attacher to attach that vellum bubble.

The snowflakes are from the Studio Calico Wonderland ephemera pack. I wrote on one of them with a fine point slick writer.

I made and arrow out of glitter tape, used a stamp from the February kit, and added an adorable printable by Geralyn Sy.

I have to say that I probably love the January kit more than the February one, but I love these cards right here so much! That "love" bubble from the 34th Street card kit went with them so well!

Project Life 2013 - Week 5

I am behind in sharing my Project Life album! I let myself get a bit behind with the album because I'm taking the Bright Ideas class at Studio Calico so I've been doing a lot more paper scrapbooking than usual, but this past weekend I finished up weeks 5 and 6, and I am working on week 7. I love this project so much! OK, so here comes Week 5. ;)

I got my Studio Calico Project Life February kit as I was finishing up this week, so I used it along with the January one. I also used some digital elements from The Lilypad - several from the February BYOC, the ever present photo collages by Designs by Lili, and one card (the yellow chevron with the speech bubble) from the Today Journal Cards by Valorie Wibbens. I also used some digi stamps by Studio Calico.
The photo protector on the left is by We R Memory Keepers, while the one on the right is the Becky Higgins Design C.

The color scheme for this week features pink and yellow, and a touch of blue. The yellow came from that "5" paper from the Heyday collection by Studio Calico - one of my favorite lines ever!

The camera on the bottom right is cut out from a paper from Amy Tangerine Sketchbook.
And here are a few details!

I wrote the "week" on a Becky Higgins 4"x6" card with a clear embossing pen and a stencil, and then embossed with grapefruit Zing. I made the splatters with Buttercup Mister Huey mist -- I love this color!! The paper is from the Heyday collection by Studio Calico.

I used the Baxter letter stickers by Amy Tangerine, and some Amy Tangerine stamps (stamped with black archival ink and with versamark+grapefruit Zing). Oh, and I bought a new date stamp with just the date, by Pebbles - I love it!!

Nutty Family

Mari Koegelenberg has an adorable new kit in the shop today.

I love all critters, so I immediately fell in love with those squirrels! And I was just delighted when I took this (absolutely not staged!) picture because I knew it would be perfect for this kit! :)

Out of This World

Once upon a time, years before discovering my vocation in scrapbooking, I had taken up embroidery as a hobby. I spent quite a bit of time at it, but I gave it up happily when I discovered scrapbooking, and never looked back. Tonight, as I was sewing on this card, I thought back at all the long hours spent embroidering, and I wondered how I could put up with that stuff! :) It is clearly not the hobby for me.. ;)

I do love how the sewing turned out in the end, but this is one thing you won't be seeing much of in the future from me. It took me way too long! I think I spent over an hour sewing on this card. The first attempt was directly on the background and it quickly went awry (I made a huge hole in the background and that resulted in some creative rearrangement of the elements of this card ;)). Next, I decided to sew on vellum and add it to my card - that worked better, but it still took me forever. :)

But apart from the insane amount of time I spent on it, I am very happy to have made this card - I finally got to use a seriously AMAZING kit by Jenn Barrette:

This kit is so cool! There are several papers in there that I wanted to use for my card (including a fabulous star chart and a planet map), but in the end I settled for this unique one.

I included the moon phases on this card as an inside joke for my husband - at my high school graduation exam I was asked a very simple question about the moon, and to this date he makes fun of me to the brilliant answer I gave (which, BTW, was precisely what the teacher wanted to hear) - "it's the moon!".  :)
