SM rocks DC!

One of the best things about my trip to Washington, DC earlier this month is that I got to meet up with some ladies of the wonderful community at ScrapMatters! It was so exciting to meet the girls in person and I was overjoyed that they came over to see me! We had breakfast together and had a guy who was sitting nearby take a picture of us (well.. 3 pictures, since we had three cameras! ;)). He did a decent job! ;) So here's me, Court, Erica (and lil' Kaylee), Denise and Jan!

I will do another page with some pictures of the girls and journaling.
I love all the products I used in this page, but let me show you these new date elements by Erica because they absolutely rock!

I realized I haven't shown you my hybrid project for the March newsletter yet (are you signed up??).. I've been such a bad blogger this month! I'll post it soon. ;)

Happy Birthday Mom!

Today is my mom's birthday and I sent her this card:

It's not my usual card and I had so much fun putting it together! ;)
I started off printing out the embellishments on presentation paper (I had some room left over as I was working on another project): at this point, I had't thought about what card I wanted to do so they just sat on my desk for a while. A few days later, when it was time to mail the card, I decided to design a card to print on a 5x7 glossy paper and add the embellishments on top of that, so I designed a funky card with my mom's picture and drawings made with my tablet. Since I'm pretty sure my mom doesn't want me to remind her she's turning 62, I also added a suitcase+ticket for her upcoming trip to visit me, because I knew she'd appreciate the detail.
Of course, since things never go as planned, for some reason my printer didn't do borderless so the card turned out smaller than it should have - thus the too big party hat and the white border of the card showing. ;) But I think it's still OK, if you don't know it (I hope).
I inked the edges of the elements with Tim Holtz's orange marmelade distress ink (I also wanted to buy the broken china, but can you believe my AC Moore only carried the orange marmelade?!? I hope it's a temporary thing and they're just reorganizing things..). I attached them with foam dots. I was afraid they would get squished in the mail, but even though I haven't asked my mom explicitly, she was enthusiastic about the card, so I suppose it arrived there in good shape.

I had a left over candle that didn't fit on the front, so I put it on the inside of the card.

I am really happy about trying out something different with this card! I asked DH if he liked the card, and he said he did. I then asked him (yeah.. usual mistake) if it looked different from the cards I usually make and he said he didn't see any difference.. :-/
I have been admiring all the art journal layouts in the galleries and I hope to have time to expore this technique more. While this card isn't an art journal, it certainly was inspired by it!

Blue Horizon

It has been several months since Bree came out with a new kit, but she finally did, and it's soooo pretty!

All the blue was perfect to scrap this picture of DH from last Friday. ;)

This page came together in no time, but then it took me forever to decide where to place the journaling!! I tried it under the picture, to the side.. I ended up putting it in the opposite corner. I'm sure the LO would have looked much prettier without journaling, but I had quite the story to tell! ;)
And then I made another page, because I just loved the tree element and the branch, and had to use them!

And this kit is 20% off until April 3, so make sure you grab it quick! ;)

P365 - Trying to Keep up!

I'm a bit behind on my P365 pages (no big news here ;)) but I realized I'm behind with blogging them too, so let me show you what I have so far! Weeks 3-6:

I also used it for this page about a painting I saw in Washington, DC.

I'm afraid that's all for my P365 for now.. I have quite a few weeks to scrap, but I'll catch up as usual. ;) The real problem is how to scrap all the pictures from Washington - that will take me forever!

Signs of Spring

Although we've had a few rainy - and chilly (just above freezing!) - days this week, between last week and this one, we've had quite a few sunny, lovely days that were really worth putting up with the rain and the cold. Spring is in the air!
And Mari Koegelenberg teamed up with Jan Hosford to create a fabulous springy kit:

Here's what I scrapped with it:

It's so nice to see the animals busying themselves around the garden. ;)

Bunny Season!

If you have been reading this blog for a while, you already know I absolutely adore bunnies.
When I came home tonight (and I guess I have to be grateful for the hour change, because there was still plenty of light!), DH told me there was a bunny in our garden!!! :D
I had been thinking about bunnies lately, wondering when I would see the first one of the year, but I wasn't expecting it to be so soon!! I am so happy! Bunnies really give me warm fuzzies. ;)
So, it was just perfect to use Mari's kit and alpha (see previous post) to scrap the shots I took of this adorable bunny.

He was pretty small, even though you can't really tell from the pictures. Bunnies really are adorable, and it's so funny that the tiny ones just look like big bunnies, only.. small! ;)
Ooook, I think all my blabber about bunnies is getting a bit embarassing.. ;) Boy do I love them! ;)

New Products from Mari!

Well, it looks like I have disappeared for a while, huh? ;) I was in Washington last week, for 5 days, and then when I came back this week was just crazy - I've had business dinners 3 days in a row! I enjoyed it, but DH.. not so much.. I hope it's over now! ;)
Unfortunately, this also means I've had no scrapping time, and this is a bummer, because Mari Koegelenberg has come out with some adorable products, and my hands are itching to scrap!! Hopefully, tonight..! ;)
First off, look at this sweet kit (was in the Digi Files at the Daily Digi last month):

There's also a set of lovely printables (check out the preview in the store- these are so cute!!):

And then there's 2 great alphas (and I'm such a sucker for alphas, I know I'll be using these over and over!):

And the best news is that all these products are 20% off today and tomorrow! Go grab them quick!

New Month..

A new month has started, and this means there's a new Sweet & Simple kit by Gina Marie Huff at the Weeds & Wildflowers store!

I squeezed in some time in this crazy week (I handed in my take home midterm today, one day early, because I was so done with it!) and did two pages with this fabulous kit.

I looooove how this one turned out!!
Then I finally finished scrapping the pictures of these adorable dogs! :)

I can't wait to use this kit for my P365 pages. Yeah, I know.. I'm a bit behind, but I'll catch up eventually! I actually have a couple of weeks done already that I haven't posted yet. :)
