Friday Again!

It's Friday already, and there are many, many gorgeous new products for sale at The Lilypad! First off, let me share these gorgeous leaves by Sahlin Studio:

They are so pretty! I was totally inspired by these leaf bookmarks by Ana Paula, so I crumpled up my leaves and used them to make a card. ;)

Next, a basic white paper pack by Karah Fredricks.

But this isn't just a plain white paper pack. The textures on these papers are fantastic!! And a gorgeous pencil sketched alpha by the queen of alphas, CD Muckosky:

I used them to make another page for my 2012 calendar:

I made this page about the book club at The Lilypad:

Online Book Club

Journaling:
I’ve never been part of a book club IRL, but I’ve always wanted to. I just don’t have a group of friends to make it happen. So when they proposed to start an online book club at my favorite digital hangout, I was over the moon! We started in July, reading two books: The Giver by Lois Lowry and Matched by Ally Condie; in August we read The Bronze Horseman by Paullina Simons; in September it’s Here Be Dragons by Sharon Kay Penman, and we’re about to pick the books for the rest of the year.

and this one about my new e-reader!

My Kobo

Journaling:
Taking advantage of the closeout sales at Borders, DH got me a Kobo e-reader. I’ve never been interested in getting an e-reader, but when our friend Filippo came to visit and showed us his Kindle, I must say I liked it. I got my Kobo as an early birthday present and tried it out right away on a business trip. It was great not to have to pack two or three big books for the trip to the West Coast! I have resisted switching to e-books for a long time, but I must admit that there are just too many advantages: it makes traveling so much easier, it saves trees, it makes it possible for me to borrow books from the library (I just hate the used library books with the filthy covers!)... And as of this weekend, my Kobo also has a bright, fun pink cover+sleeve! We got the Kobo over the Kindle or Nook because it was the cheapest option, but I am really glad we did, because it’s the smallest one and it fits in one hand!
